U Goes After Q
U Goes After Q
"Stop following me!" said Q to U.
There you are, wherever I am.
You always follow on my tail,
Like Mary's little lamb.
"But I do love you," said U to Q.
How I long to stay always near.
Count on me to come after you,
Everywhere you appear."
"Will you marry me?" said Q to U.
U's words had won Q's heart.
And they wed one day in the spring.
Now they never are apart.

Two Too Many To's
Two Too Many To's
There are two too many two/too/to's.
That’s two too many two/too/to's to choose.
Webster made them just to confuse.
Two two/too/to's it’s time to lose.
Tootle-loo.

School Turkeys
The classrooms filled with turkeys,
Weeks before Thanksgiving Day.
Kindergartners traced around hands.
First-graders used paper-mâché.
Grade Two stuck feathers in pine cones.
Grade Three cut out a paper plate.
Grade Four pinned gumdrops on apples.
Grade Five stuffed bags to decorate.
We love the turkeys at our school,
So imagine how we’ll feel
Tomorrow on Thanksgiving Day,
When we’re served turkey at our meal.

Chefs of Pennsylvania
The chefs of Pennsylvania,
And their pencil-shaving cuisine.
Perfection say the critics.
Best food they’ve ever seen.
They bake pencil-shaving pizza,
And pencil shaving pie.
They’ll make pencil shaving meat balls,
And pencil shaving stir-fry.
Try pencil-shaving doughnuts,
Or pencil shavings and cheese,
A pencil-shaving omelet,
Drink pencil shaving teas.
Next time you sharpen pencils,
Take the holder off the hook,
Send the shavings to Pennsylvania.
For a Pennsylvania cook.

Elevator Family Play

"Beneath its blissfully buoyant surface, The Elevator Family has something important to say about the effect of one family on the world and vice versa. But that theme never overwhelms the gentle humor."
Margaret Quamme, The Columbus Dispatch
"A delightful surprise... In an age where we are taught to be suspicious, The Elevator Family may be a nod to a simpler time. But it's a nice reminder that if we took to the time to get to know the people swirling around us, we'd likely find a lot of good."
Dennis Thompson, Theatre Roundtable of Central Ohio
Oprah, Our Opera Diva Bus Driver
She dreams of singing on the opera stage,
But for now she drives our bus.
And each day on the way to school,
She sings arias for us.
“La-la-la-la-laaaaa!”she warms up,
Folding open the school bus door.
“Me-me-meeeee!” she sings harmony,
With the bass of the motor's roar.
Riding along, she’ll belt a song,
Jaw wobbling as she grips the wheel.
Hitting the brakes, she hits high notes.
A prima donna duet squeal.
Once she wore a helmet with horns,
And warbled “Ho-jo-to-ho!”
She clutched the gear shift like a spear,
While we cheered, “BRAVO! BRAVO!”
The morning she sang Madame Butterfly,
She gave us an excellent ride,
Especially when at the end,
She grabbed her kimono and died.
Some day we'll meet her at the Met,
Now librettos lie beside her.
Riding to class is classy because,
Oprah is our diva driver.
